5 best horror remakes

I originally planned to have a remakes list consisting of all genres, but most of the list turned out to be horror, so I just rolled with it. Most horror remakes can suck, but sometimes the filmverse spits out some gems that surpass the original or just entertain on a different level than the original did.

The Evil Dead II

A sequel or remake? I think this can be debated for sometime, but I see it as a remake as it has no connection to the events from the first film. Sam Raimi tells the same story, but with a bigger budget, less characters and more fun with cheesy lines delivered from the great, Bruce Campbell.

The Fly

David Cronenberg takes us on a disgusting journey as scientist, Seth Brundle transforms into a fly after his experiment goes wrong. Chris Walas does an astounding job at bringing ”Brundlegly” alive. His work scared the shit out of me as a child.

Dawn of the Dead

Zack Snyder’s, ”Dawn of the Dead” is one hell of a fun film. The flick kicks off fast and fierce and continues to hold the attention as a group of mix-matched individuals who are stuck in a shopping mall.

Piranha 3D

Piranha 3D is one of the theses movies that had me laughing from start to finish. I never had so much fun watching a movie at the theater. I suggest watching this with a group of friends; that’s how this flick works best. The 3D also added to the experience. It was nice seeing this awful gimmick being used to amp the fun up.

The Thing

After seeing the 2011 remake, I really appreciate, John Carpenter’s remake of ”The Thing” a lot more. The characters, suspense, tone and creature effects all work like a symphony.
